Zachary A. Chester was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He received his primary education in the Trenton Public School District and graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1987. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he graduated in 1992.

Upon graduating college, Zachary worked in Savannah Georgia in the areas of property management as well as revenue investigation until his return to Trenton, NJ in 2000. Once back home, Zachary’s professional portfolio included employment with the Trenton Education Development Corporation (TEDCO); United States Congressman Rush Holt; Capital Health and the American Red Cross.

Zachary is no stranger to service and has held numerous leadership positions in a variety of organizations serving on various boards including but not limited to the Trenton Public Education Foundation; the Metropolitan African-American Chamber of Commerce; Fathers and Men United for a Better Trenton; and, the West End Little League. Additionally, he has served as the President of Zeta Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and as a member of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce Future Business Leader Council. He is also the past President of the Trenton NAACP (2004-2006) as well as a Class of 2006 Leadership Trenton Fellow. Mr. Chester serves as an Advisor for the African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County.
